Student Placement (fixed term) - Scotland

The UK government has committed to a target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, resulting in an increasing interest in both existing forestry and new woodland creation. Scottish Woodlands is at the forefront of developing opportunities to meet these targets and supporting landowners to optimise their land and deliver forestry related projects. We have an exciting opportunity for a Student Placement to be given detailed insight and experience into potential careers in Forestry.

 

The Role...

 

As a Student Placement this position entails operating under the direction of a Senior Manager/Line Manager and assist that person in their duties. This would include the following activities:

•Carry out woodland inspections and supervision

•After appropriate training to undertake digital mapping work

•Prepare contract documentation and utilise Scottish Woodlands’ Capacity records system

•Prepare draft operational budgets within financial limits of authority

•Identify any business or sales opportunities

•Monitor service performance with specific reference to work quality to ensure customer satisfaction

As a Student Placement you should be working towards a BSc, HND or equivalent qualification in a Forestry related discipline, or other relevant degree or qualification. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment. A Full Drivers Licence with the ability to drive legally in the UK is essential due to the nature of the role.
