SWL Underlines Total Commitment to Quality and the Environment
Scottish Woodlands Ltd has underlined its commitment to the highest-quality forest management by clocking up 25 years of continuous forest certification with FSC©.
The award of the new Forest Management Certificate runs for five years and will take the company through to an incredible 30 years of forest certification.
Forest certification provides the end user of timber products with the assurance that they have been sourced from responsibly-managed forests to the highest internationally-recognised and verified standards.
Scottish Woodlands Ltd holds the first - and the longest-running - forest management certificate in the UK private sector.
The new certificate was issued after a rigorous two weeks of in-forest auditing by the Soil Association, which put every aspect of forest management under the microscope.
“We are delighted to reach our quarter century and to be able to demonstrate our continued commitment to responsible forest management,” said Stuart Wilkie, Environment and Certification Manager for Scottish Woodlands Ltd.
“I'd like to offer congratulations to everyone in my support team - and especially to all the forest managers across the company who had their work put under the spotlight.”
Mr Wilkie added: "This is a very significant achievement for the company, which saw the need for and supported forest certification from the very start."
The company continues to support the ongoing development and improvement of the UK Woodland Assurance Standard by which all certified forests are judged - to ensure the Standard is fit for the future.
