SWL team competes at annual clay pigeon charity shoot
A ‘crack’ team from Scottish Woodlands Ltd was runner-up at an annual timber industry clay pigeon shooting competition.
Although James Jones & Sons pipped SWL to the team trophy, Michael Hall - Director for South-east Scotland, England & Wales for SWL - was the top individual shot.
The annual TTBS (Timber Trades Benevolent Society) clay pigeon shoot was held at Cluny Clays, near Kirkcaldy, Fife.
As well as Michael Hall, the team included Ben Goodall, Assistant Harvesting Manager from Melrose, Cameron Macleod, Regional Harvesting & Marketing Manager from Dumfries, and Jamie Bertram, Harvesting Contract Supervisor, also from Dumfries.
Sponsored by last year's champions, Tilhill, and organised by David Turnbull at James Jones & Sons, the event drew keen marksmen from forestry and timber processing businesses.
The competition was fierce, but James Jones & Sons emerged triumphant in the team event, with Scottish Woodlands Ltd second.
Michael ‘Top Gun’ Hall said: “Scottish Woodlands Ltd was delighted to support this year’s Clay Pigeon Shoot in aid of the Timber Trades Benevolent Society. The event raises money for an important industry charity, but there is also a strong competitive element - and SWL was very pleased to come in second place to a strong team from James Jones. The event was good fun and gave an opportunity for old hands and new guns alike to take part.”
