Scottish Woodlands team aims to repeat Great Glen success

A team of outdoor enthusiasts from Scottish Woodlands Ltd is hoping that success repeats itself when they compete in the multi-sport RSABI Great Glen Challenge.

The group from Perth Sandpiper office finished first last year in the epic challenge, which includes kayaking, mountain biking, running and walking - and hope to win again on Friday. [30th August]

The event is to support the RSABI (founded as the Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution), which provides practical, emotional, and financial support to individuals currently or previously involved in the Scottish agricultural industry, including those in forestry.

The Scottish Woodlands Ltd team, including two recent graduates from its industry-leading Graduate Development Programme, is:

  • Fraser Wight: 17km run
  • Joe Birch: 49km mountain bike ride
  • Cameron Woodall: 6km kayak
  • David King: 18km walk

Becky Millar will be the team’s support driver and will join the team to assist with logistics and equipment.

Joe Birch, Assistant Harvesting Manager based in Perth, said: "I’m really looking forward to taking part in this year's Great Glen Challenge. The team has been busy training hard, and we hope to match or exceed last year's performance. More importantly, we're proud to support RSABI and the crucial work they do for our industry."

Anyone wanting to support this challenge can make a donations through the Scottish Woodlands Team's fundraising page.
