Scottish Woodlands staff take on 119-mile challenge in aid of Mountain Rescue

Scottish Woodlands staff are this week taking on one of their biggest challenges yet to support Scottish Mountain Rescue.

A team of 18 employees from offices in Dumfries, Fenwick (Ayrshire) and Ballymena (Northern Ireland) will embark on a multi-sport adventure along a 119-mile stretch of the Southern Upland Way, from Portpatrick in the very south-west of Scotland to Beattock in South Lanarkshire.

Staff will cycle, run, swim, walk and paddle along a distance around half the total length of the Southern Upland Way with each leg completed simultaneously. This effort is part of the company's commitment to supporting crucial emergency services in Scotland's rural areas.

Staff are taking on this challenge to raise funds to support Scottish Mountain Rescue. Scottish Woodlands selects a different charity to support each year that has a special relevance for those working in the forestry sector. With the majority of the company’s work taking place in rural and remote areas, Scottish Woodlands’ staff are acutely aware of the value of Scottish Mountain Rescue.

Andy MacLachlan, Regional Manager - South West Scotland for Scottish Woodlands Ltd, said: "At Scottish Woodlands, we're deeply connected to the rural landscapes of Scotland. This challenge not only demonstrates the dedication and teamwork of our staff but also highlights our commitment to supporting crucial services like Scottish Mountain Rescue.”

“Their volunteers provide an invaluable lifeline for anyone who might find themselves in difficulty in our remote areas. We're proud to contribute to their cause and hope our efforts will raise both awareness and vital funds for this exceptional organisation."
