Scottish Woodlands Staff Complete "Summit to Sea" Challenge for Charity

Staff from Scottish Woodlands' North-East Region successfully completed the "Summit to Sea" challenge on September 9th, 2024, raising funds for Scottish Mountain Rescue. The event saw volunteers cycle, run, and walk a 53.3km route from the top of Mount Battock in Glen Esk to Aberdeen Beach, incorporating the nearby hill Clachnaben and North Deeside Way.

The Scottish Woodland team faced varying weather conditions throughout their journey. While overall conditions were favourable, participants reported chilly temperatures at the top of Mount Battock.

Yolanda Piotrowicz, Assistant Forest Manager for Scottish Woodlands, commented on the event's success:

"The event all went to plan and to schedule. We were lucky to have good weather for the most part although it was cold at the top of Mount Battock! The whole team really enjoyed taking part and we are pleased we managed to raise some money towards such a good cause."

Scottish Woodlands chooses a charity to support each year and activities across the country have taken place during the summer to raise money for Scottish Mountain Rescue.
