Scottish Woodlands Promotes "Movement" for Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

Scottish Woodlands is actively participating in Mental Health Awareness Week, taking place from 13-19 May 2024. In line with this year's theme, "Movement: Moving more for our mental health," Scottish Woodlands' Human Resources team is issuing resources and promoting initiatives across all offices to support employee wellbeing.

Throughout the week, Scottish Woodlands will be encouraging its employees to embrace movement and prioritise their mental health. The following activities are planned as part of this:

  • Distributing Mental Health Awareness Week posters and materials to all offices - Toolbox Talk
  • Encouraging employees to find and share their "#MomentsForMovement"
  • Engaging Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs) to lead and generate ideas for promoting movement and mental wellbeing

To further support employee mental health, Scottish Woodlands has scheduled refresher training and new Mental Health First Aid training for October and November 2024. This demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to fostering a mentally healthy workplace.

Lynne MacDonald, Human Resources Manager said: "Scottish Woodlands recognises the importance of promoting mental wellbeing and the positive impact of physical activity on our employees' mental health. We are dedicated to providing resources, training, and support to help our employees prioritise their mental health not just during Mental Health Awareness Week, but throughout the year."

By engaging Mental Health First Aiders and providing them with a platform to lead initiatives, Scottish Woodlands aims to create a supportive environment where employees feel encouraged to take care of their mental health and well-being.

Sarah Armstead, Compliance Administrator added: "Movement is a powerful tool for promoting mental wellbeing, and Scottish Woodlands encourages our employees to find their own ways to incorporate more movement into their daily routines during Mental Health Awareness Week. Our 'Let's Move More for Our Mental Health' toolbox talk document provides a wealth of ideas and inspiration for getting started, from simple desk exercises to creative ways to make time for movement at home.”
