New film highlights value of rural shows

Scottish Woodlands Ltd has made a short film to highlight the importance of the company's attendance at rural shows - including the Scottish Game Fair, which starts in Perth tomorrow. [Friday July 5th]

Six SWL staff feature in the video, made at the Royal Highland Show at the end of June.

David Robertson, Investment and Business Development Director, says in the film: "It's really important to engage with people at the shows, and to have conversations at a time of change in the rural sector. It takes us out of our bubble."

"There's a social side to it, but also a very important business development aspect."

Neil Crookston, SWL Director for North Scotland, says: "All the rural shows we attend have a different flavour, a different character - and also, lots of different characters!"

Becky Millar, Assistant Forest Manager, says: "People often come to ask about funding for new woodland creation or about harvesting, or just to find out more about Scottish Woodlands."

The film also features Assistant Forest Manager Ali McTavish, General Manager Eddie Addis and Emma Menmuir, who coordinates attendance at shows for Scottish Woodlands Ltd.

She urges visitors to future shows - from the Scottish Game Fair this weekend and the Royal Welsh Show from July 22nd onwards - to come and chat to the Scottish Woodlands team. "We always have a variety of staff available to answer a range of queries," she says.
