Changing Attitudes towards modern forestry

Scottish Woodlands is maintaining its support for those who share positive and effective messages about modern forestry by returning to sponsor the Changing Attitudes Award at the forestry industry’s premier awards dinner.

The award is for “an individual or business promoting the forestry and wood sector in a positive and impactful way – through personal engagement, campaigning or
communication, social media or other ways.”

The deadline for entries is Friday January 26th, and the winner will be announced at the Confor Awards Dinner in Edinburgh on Tuesday March 12th. Full details of how to enter can be found here

Last year’s winner was Tom Barnes, Managing Director of Vastern Timber, for his work on sharing accessible video content through his Wood for the Trees series. Mr Barnes is also the lead author of the National Wood Strategy for England, published in December 2023.

Previous winners were Laura Jermy, an effective social media commentator, who received the award in 2022, and Mima Letts of Tree Sparks, the inaugural winner in February 2020 (there was no Awards dinner in 2021 due to pandemic restrictions).

Ian Robinson, Managing Director of Scottish Woodlands Ltd, said: "As a business, we are delighted to continue to support this very significant award. It's vital to showcase those who are highlighting the modern, diverse and inclusive face of the forestry and wood industry to help change public attitudes."

"I’m really looking forward to announcing another worthy winner at the awards dinner - and urge people to get their entries in soon!"
