Flintshire History

The Company’s operational area has, for a long time, stretched outside of our core area of Scotland. We have been active since the mid-1980s in North England with our first office in Alnwick, Northumberland, opening in 1987.

However, at much the same time as the Alnwick office was opened, the Company acquired the whole share capital of Flintshire Woodlands. Flintshire Woodlands was a Wales and The Marches based forestry co-operative in the same vein as the beginnings of Scottish Woodlands Ltd, Scottish Woodlands Owners Association. Flintshire Woodlands remained a trading division of SWL until 2013 when it became a trading name only and merged with the South East Scotland Region for the 2013-14 forest year.

The office provides comprehensive forest management and contracting services to a wide range of investment clients, rural estates, farming businesses and individuals, with timber harvesting works carried out on managed properties. In recent years, Chirk has been increasingly involved with woodland creation and the multi-disciplinary skills required for planning, consultation and delivery of new woodland projects.
